Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs) provide immediate lifesaving care to critical patients who access the EMS system. EMRs have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide immediate lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional resources to arrive. EMRs also provide assistance to higher-level personnel at the scene of emergencies and during transport. Under medical oversight, EMRs perform basic interventions with minimal equipment. [National EMS Scope of Practice Model]
This course is required to apply for certification as an Emergency Medical Responder. The EMR course is a great introduction to the EMS profession and is intended to help serve rural communities and provide an EMS based certification to those students with an interest in EMS or as a bridge to other EMS certifications. Successful students will be eligible to take the NREMT EMR exam. View course information
