- 8am-12pm: FIRST ALARM STRATEGY + TACTICS: Fireground Decision Making for Company Officers and ICs
This program focuses on the critical decisions made during the first alarm assignment and the “first SCBA cylinder” of a working fire. Using real-world fireground experiences and lessons learned, participants will examine proven strategies and tactics for the most common occupancy types, including single-family dwellings, multi-family dwellings, and commercial buildings.
Students will learn practical decision-making models that help officers quickly evaluate conditions, establish strategy, select tactics, and coordinate engine and truck company operations to achieve safer and more effective fireground outcomes. - LUNCH PROVIDED BY NAFECO.
- 1-5pm: BEYOND SIDEWALK SUPERVISION: Fireground Command Staff Development Program
Today’s fireground is faster, more complex, and more demanding than ever. This program examines the trends and contributing factors behind firefighter injuries and line-of-duty deaths while exploring how a structured command staff model can improve operational effectiveness, accountability, and firefighter safety. Participants will learn practical strategies for expanding command oversight, reducing fireground chaos, and developing systems that support safer and more effective incident management.
