Reading Smoke

Course Objectives: Student will be able to understand the basic theories of reading and interpretation of smoke on the fire scene. This course is divided into four distinct areas. (1) Why read smoke. (2) What is smoke? (3) Understanding and predicting hostile fire events. (4) Steps for reading smoke.

Course Synopsis: This course is designed to assist firefighters in the understanding of reading smoke. The class covers multiple strategies and tactics associated with interpretation of smoke on the fire scene. This course will give the student insight into the potential conditions inside burning structure and possible outcomes.
