Fire Fighter I/II (8th Ed.)
This program consists of these courses: Fire Support Person, Volunteer Fire Fighter/Fire Fighter I, Fire Fighter II, HazMat/WMD Awareness, HM/WMD Operations (including Product Control and PPE) and Rapid Intervention Crew Member (RICM).
This course is based on NFPA 1010: Standard on Professional Qualifications for Firefighters, 2024 Edition. The course is designed for the person who seeks the knowledge and skills to function as an integral member of a firefighting team under direct or general supervision in hazardous conditions. The Fire Fighter I/II course consists of a combination of classroom study, drill field practice, and training evolutions that will prepare the fire fighter to perform most fire ground functions under the supervision of an officer or experienced fire fighter. Additional Alabama Administrative Code requirements completed during the program include Emergency Medical Care training and Firefighter I/II Core Training Evolutions. The candidate must meet the requirements for certification prior to permanent employment or a period not exceeding 12 months after the date of employment.
