Fire and Emergency Services Instructor II

This course is based on NFPA 1041: Standard for Fire Service Instructor Professional Qualifications, 2019 Edition. The course is designed for the Fire and Emergency Services Instructor who, in addition to meeting Instructor I qualifications, wants to develop the knowledge and ability to develop individual lesson plans for a specific topic including learning objectives, instructional aids, and evaluation instruments; schedule training sessions based on overall training plan of the authority having jurisdiction; and supervise and coordinate the activities of other instructors.

In response to the 2025 update of NFPA 1020 the Fire and Emergency Services Instructor series will be transitioning to: Jones & Bartlett’s, Fire and Emergency Services Instructor, Fourth Edition textbook. These changes will take effect in the Spring of 2027 and will impact content and certification requirements.
