Alabama Smoke Diver
The Alabama Smoke Diver Program is designed for firefighters who want to refine their existing skills through realistic, high-stress training while learning new techniques that will benefit them throughout their careers. It is a physically and mentally demanding course that incorporates multiple aspects of the firefighting profession.
This program is an intensive 50+ hour course that begins Sunday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM and continues Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Throughout the week, students participate in challenging exercises conducted in a variety of environments. Each day starts with a fitness event, followed by drill field evolutions and scenario-based training that includes heat, smoke, and live fire conditions. The majority of the course takes place on the drill field while operating in full personal protective equipment (PPE).
Participants are expected to arrive with a strong foundational understanding of firefighter survival and Rapid Intervention Crew (RIC) operations prior to attending, as the pace and intensity of the program build upon these essential skills.
Due to high demand for this program, all interested students must register for the Smoke Diver Enrollment Selection Pool. Students will be randomly selected after August 1st. For more information, click here.
