(Tuscaloosa, Alabama) On December 3-5, 2024, beginning at 8am, first responder personnel from all over the state of Alabama will convene at the Alabama Fire College in Tuscaloosa. These highly trained individuals will come together to increase their level of confidence in working together when a catastrophe overwhelms the resources of a local area. The primary goal of this annual training is to ensure that these teams are fully prepared to respond to catastrophic situations when called upon by the Alabama Emergency Management Agency (AEMA). Such training is of utmost importance to facilitate a seamless process for the mobilization, integration, and utilization of hazardous materials protocols.
Participating teams include individuals from Birmingham Fire & Rescue Services, Dothan Fire Department, Florence Fire Department, Hoover Fire Department, Montgomery Fire Rescue, and Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue. The exercise will involve scenarios related to hazardous materials response and mitigation. In addition to the aforementioned personnel, other key stakeholders include the Alabama National Guard, AEMA, and Jefferson County EMA.
This training exercise is a testament to the dedication and commitment of these organizations in ensuring the safety and well-being of the communities they serve. By coming together for this exercise, they aim to maintain the highest level of readiness and responsiveness to protect and support the people of Alabama.
