Fire Fighter I/II
This course is based on NFPA 1001: Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications and may lead to IFSAC and Pro Board certifications. The course is designed for the person who seeks the knowledge and skills to function as an integral member of a firefighting team under direct or general supervision in hazardous conditions. The Fire Fighter I/II course consists of a combination of classroom study, drill field practice, and training evolutions that will prepare the fire fighter to perform most fire ground functions under the supervision of an officer or experienced fire fighter. Successful completion of all written exams, practical exercises and a passing score on the state certification exam is required for certification. Campus Delivery Only. (Classes that are delivered either at the Alabama Fire College or an RTC or other area as approved by the Regional Coordinator and Training Staff at AFC.)
Co-Requisite: Hazardous Materials Awareness & Operations (to include Chapters 6.2 & 6.6 of NFPA 472) Certification (IFSAC or Pro Board)

Special Equipment - NFPA compliant turnout gear and SCBA with spare bottle, PASS device, navy AFC t-shirts and navy AFC shorts, navy AFC sweat suit (seasonal) for physical training, available from the Alabama Fire College Bookstore. Running shoes are required.
Physical Requirements - This is a physically demanding course which requires the student to be in good physical condition.

Successful completion of Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT)
Emergency Care Provider or proof of First Responder that meets or exceeds the Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical First Responder
Prior to certification as a FFI: HMAO certification.
