Robert “Zeke” Ezekiel, MPPM, EFO

Robert “Zeke” Ezekiel is the Program Manager for the Alabama Public Safety Leadership Academy (APSLA) through the Alabama Fire College. He additionally serves as an Adjunct Instructor with the AFC focusing on leadership and management education.

Education: 
Zeke received his Associates degree in Fire Science from Jefferson State Community College in 1990. He continued his education by completing his Bachelors of Science degree in Public Safety Administration from Athens State University graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1992. Believing that education is an important element to successfully managing an organization, he continued his formal education by completing his Masters degree in Public Sector/Private Sector Management (MPPM) at Birmingham Southern College in 1995. Zeke recognized that professional education is as important as formal education; therefore, he entered the Executive Fire Officer Program (EFOP) at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland and graduated in July, 2000.

Professional Background: 
Zeke has served in the fire and emergency medical services arena for forty-two and one-half years. He started his career with the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service as a firefighter in 1973 and worked his way through the ranks to Chief Officer. He proudly accepted the opportunity to serve as Fire Chief for the City of Mountain Brook in 1993 and served in this capacity for twenty-two and one-half years.

Civic Interests: 
Zeke was a member of the 2002-2003 Leadership Birmingham Class. He is past President of the Board of Directors for the Family Skills Center, a non-profit organization whose mission is to negate child abuse. He was a long-standing member and past president of the Mountain Brook Exchange Club. He is past president of the Alabama Association of Fire Chiefs and the Central Alabama Fire Chiefs Association, and holds membership in the International Association of Fire Chiefs, and Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs. Additionally, he has served as chairman of the Alabama Joint Fire Council. Zeke additionally serves as a member of the advisory council for the Fire Science Program at Jefferson State Community College. He is active in all these organizations.

Personal:
Zeke is married (Kay) and has two children and two grandchildren. His hobbies include bass fishing competitively and golfing.
