Wildland Fire Fighter

The Wildland Fire Fighter course will cover: basic concepts of wildland fire, topographic influences, fuels, weather, wildland fire behavior and safety. This course will also cover logistics, basic terminology, Fire Fighter preparedness, ICS overview, LCES, fire shelters, potential hazards-human factors on the fireline, transportation safety, hand tools and firing devices. It will also cover: use of water, fire suppression, patrolling, radio communication, mop-up and securing the fireline, hazardous materials awareness, wildland urban interface safety, cultural resources and pump operations. There will be a final exam and field exercises. (This course contains S130/S190)
