A Modern Approach-40 hour Fireground Strategies and Tactics
This course is designed for Company Officers and Incident Commanders who command fire-ground operations with limited manpower and resources. This course will assist the Officer in managing the High-rise structures, large commercial structures, residential structures, and unique access issues, utilizing limited manpower and resources. This course utilizes interactive computer generated scenarios, time-compressed onsite size-up drills, lecture and research to accomplish the objectives of the course. Topics covered during this course include:

• Conducting Size-up
• Building an Incident Action Plan
• Building construction
• High-rise Operations
• Commercial Operations
• Residential Operations
• Managing access to structure issues
• Utilizing Mutual aid
• Pre-incident issues
• Hose line operation
• Apparatus placement
• Pumping operations
• Training of personnel
This course is 40 hours in length per students will be graded on their practical performance and results of a 50 question written examination. Completion of pre-course research is required.
