RT: Surface Water I/II

   

This course is based on NFPA 1006: Standard for Technical Rescuer Professional Qualifications, and may lead to IFSAC and Pro Board certifications. This course is designed for individuals who will perform or direct a technical rescue by identifying hazards, using equipment, and applying advanced techniques to rescue a victim who is afloat on the surface of a body of water. Campus Delivery Only. (Classes that are delivered either at the Alabama Fire College or an RTC or other area as approved by the Regional Coordinator and Training Staff at AFC.)

Special Equipment - Water helmet or climbing helmet (no fire fighting helmets), Wetsuit or dry suit, Water boots or tennis shoes, Water gloves, Coast Guard approved Type V personal flotation device, 2 forms of light (flashlight & glow stick for night drill)

Physical Requirements - This is a very physically demanding course which requires student to be in good physical condition.

  • 18 years of age
  • High school diploma/GED
  • IFSAC or Pro Board Certified Rescue Technician: Rope I
  • Proof of First Responder that meets or exceeds the Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical First Responder
