Welcome to the Instructor Information page on the Alabama Fire College website. This site is being developed to educate, inform, and answer questions for fire and EMS instructors to be utilized by the Training Division of the Alabama Fire College. Our mission is to keep current information readily available to our most valued asset, our instructors.

Fire Instructor I, II, III Pre-Course Materials

Instructor definitions and qualifications:

Fire Instructor I: an individual who has earned certification from an accredited training program that meets or exceeds the requirements of NFPA 1041 for Fire Instructor I by having successfully completed a course and passed the written exam with a minimum score of 70.

Fire Instructor II: an individual who has earned certification from an accredited training program that meets or exceeds the requirements of NFPA 1041 for Fire Instructor II by having successfully completed a course and passed the written exam with a minimum score of 70.

Fire Instructor III: an individual who has earned certification from an accredited training program that meets or exceeds the requirements of NFPA 1041 for Fire Instructor III by having successfully completed a course and passed the written exam with a minimum score of 70.

Field Instructor: an individual certified to at least the Fire Instructor I level, who teaches for the Alabama Fire College on a part time basis the Field Training courses, or an individual with special knowledge or skills, authorized by the Alabama Fire College to teach or instruct in their area of expertise.

Resident Instructor: an individual certified to at least the Fire Instructor II level, who teaches for the Alabama Fire College on a part time basis the Resident Training courses, or an individual with special knowledge or skills, authorized by the Alabama Fire College to teach or instruct in their expertise.

Industrial Instructor: an individual certified to at least the Fire Instructor II level, who teaches for the Alabama Fire College on "as needed" basis the industrial Training courses, or an individual with special knowledge or skills, authorized by the Alabama Fire College to teach or instruct in their expertise.
