Rescue Technician: Rope
A
certification course
accredited by the Pro Board.
Meets the requirements of the rope rescue chapter of NFPA 1006, Standard
for Rescue Technician Professional Qualifications, 2003 edition.

A 32-hour course
in rope rescue techniques. There will be a classroom review of equipment,
knots and rope safety. Instruction events include: establishing need for
rope rescue; uses and limitation equipment; knotcraft; safey aspects;
anchoring systems; rescue rappelling; third man rescue; lowering systems and
other aspects of rope rescue.
Performance Evaluation Skills
Testing is required for this course.
Note:
This is a very physically demanding
course which requires you to be in good physical condition.
Special
Equipment Required: Climbing helmet or
firefighting helmet with chin strap, helmet light that can be attached to
your helmet,
hiking boots or work boots, leather work gloves or
leather climbing gloves.

Prerequisite: Candidate
must be Certified Volunteer Fire Fighter or Certified Fire Fighter I
or have documented proof of
Hazardous Materials
Awareness & Operational training;
and Introduction to Technical Rescue; and must have completed an EMT: Basic
course.
