Fire Officer III
 

A certification course accredited by the Pro Board.
Meets the requirements of level III of NFPA 1021, Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications, 2003 edition. See the course syllabus.


A course designed for the chief officer who is ready to assume a leadership role by moving into the upper management level of his/her department. This course consists of subjects designed to give the officer more knowledge of management and supervision so that he/she can make basic evaluations of employee relations and assume a more proactive role in their department.

This is a projects-based class. The Alabama Fire College Computer Lab is available for you to work on your projects in groups. You may use the computer lab for any related course work and to check online email accounts, however you must adhere to all rules relating to the Alabama Fire College computer lab. If you would like to work on your projects after hours, you must bring your own laptop.

Additional material required: A calculator, a notebook or ample supply of paper, pencils with erasers.

If you bring your own laptop computer the required software is Microsoft Office 2002 with, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Prerequisite: Certified Fire Officer II and Certified Fire Instructor II

NOTE: Due to the rigors of the certification exam, students are strongly encouraged to purchase and begin reading the assigned text(s) before classes commence.
