FIRE
FIGHTER I/II
FFI/II course is
accredited by the Pro Board.
Responding to the needs of the fire service, the Alabama Fire College has
divided the FFI/II-EMT-Basic program into two modules. The firefighter
recruit will be given the option of taking the EMT-Basic portion through a
continuous five week program prior to FFI/II training or taking FFI/II as a
stand-alone course. Note: A minimum of
Medical First Responder is required to take the FFI/II stand alone course.
Fire Fighter I/II is an entry level course for fire fighters. The FFI/II
course consists of a combination of classroom study, drill field practice,
and training evolutions that will prepare the fire fighter to perform most
fireground functions under the supervision of an officer or experienced fire
fighter. Successful completion of all written exams, practical exercises,
and a passing score on the state certification exam is required for
graduation. The eight week FFI/II module meets the requirements of NFPA
1001, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, 2002
edition. See
course syllabus. The five week EMT-Basic module complies with the new
180 hour training requirement mandated by the State of Alabama.
