Airport Fire Fighter

Professional Qualifications, 2000 edition.

Designed for fire departments, both civilian and military, whose primary
mission is aircraft fire and rescue. This five-day course meets the training
requirements of both NFPA 1003 and FAA FAR Part 139.319. The course covers
such topics as; airport familiarization, aircraft rescue and fire fighting
apparatus, aircraft types, engines and systems, and aircraft rescue and fire
fighting procedures. These classroom sessions are followed by practical
exercises on turret operations, and extinguishment of wheel/brake, engine,
interior cabin, and fuel spill fires through the use of handlines. This
course will be held at an off-campus facility where various aircraft and
apparatus are available.

This is a very physically demanding course
which requires you to be in good physical condition.
