Leadership I: Strategies for Company Success
(NFA)
This course is the
foundation of the National Fire Academy's three Extension Services
Branch courses in leadership. All three leadership courses were
developed to meet a universal need in the fire service. The need is
to enable mid-range managers (especially company officers) to be
more effective in their role as leaders. No matter what kind or size
of department you represent, there are certain critical skills and
experience needed to be an effective manager.
The key
concepts of Leadership I: Strategies for Company Success are:
Decision Making Skills and Styles, Problem Solving I-Identifying
Needs and Problems, Problem Solving II- Solving Problems and Running
Meetings.
This course will also present the company officer
with the basic skills and tools needed to perform effectively in the
fire service environment. Participants will be encouraged to
reinforce their confidence in themselves and their abilities as
decision makers in the fire service.
