FIRE FIGHTER SAFETY AND SURVIVAL: THE COMPANY OFFICERS RESPONSIBILITY

There is no way to describe the feelings you will experience as an officer who has lost one of your fire fighters.  The company officer oversees all tasks performed by his / her fire fighters, is responsible for correcting safety problems immediately and creating an awareness of how simple precautions can save lives and prevent long-term health problems.

The Firefighter Safety and Survival: The Company’s Officer’s Responsibility (FSCO) course is designed to examine the cause of fire fighter deaths and injuries and methods of prevention to which they relate.

Topics Include:

  • Health and physical fitness
  • Safety and training
  • Station and response preparation safety
  • Incident Safety
  • Post-incident safety
  • Survival tips

This course is taught in a classroom environment and recommended for all fire service personnel.

Necessary forms used by departments in order to request and schedule courses for their areas. These forms are not for the field student.

Course Hours:  12
Prerequisite:  None
Reference Text Required:  National Fire Academy Student Manual included at no additional charge, when available.
