FIRE FIGHTER I/II
 
Successful completion will result in Pro Board and International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) certification. Fire Fighter I/II is an entry level course for fire fighters. This course consists of a combination of classroom study, drill field practice, and training evolutions that will prepare the fire fighter to perform most fireground functions under the supervision of an officer or experienced fire fighter. EMT-Basic or First Responder and Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operational will be taught as a part of this course. Successful completion of all written exams, practical exercises, and a passing score on the state exam is required for certification. This training course meets the requirements of NFPA 1001, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, 2002 edition and NFPA 472, Standard on Professional Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials Incidents, 2002 edition. Prerequisite: 
High School Diploma/GED, successful completion of CPAT Exam, physically fit, minimum age of 18, member of a fire department in the state of Alabama.

IFSTA’s Essentials of Firefighting, 4th edition, DOT Emergency Response Guidebook, current edition, and IFSTA's Hazardous Materials First Responder, 3rd edition.
For EMT Basic: AAOS Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured, 9th edition. For First Responder: AAOS First Responder, 3rd edition.
