Emergency Medical Technician-Basic
You
can become trained in basic emergency care and be confident that if a
medical emergency threatens your family or your friends, you can provide
important first-aid assistance in the critical early minutes of any
emergency. Use your special experience for your personal satisfaction and
security, or participate in the state certification procedures leading to
registration as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic. This
course is ideal for: Parents who want to be prepared for normal childhood;
Rural residents who live far from established emergency medical
organizations; People who work with children (athletic team coaches, scout
leader, day care staff); Industrial safety personnel; Public safety
personnel, including fire service and law enforcement.
Subjects that are covered in EMT-Basic include: Heart attacks, Trauma
situations, Medical emergencies, Pediatrics problems, Geriatrics problems,
Respiratory problems.
Upon
successful completion of the course and 32-hours of clinical rotations, you
may choose to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians
exam to become nationally certified and state licensed. This also allows you
to continue your emergency medical care training at more advanced level,
including the paramedic level.
Necessary forms used by departments in order to request and schedule
courses for their areas. These forms are not for the field student.
