Course Content Advisory Committees
Alabama Fire College established Course Content Advisory Committees in
2003 to provide advice and guidance regarding the AFC curriculum. The
members of five Course Content Advisory Committees come from the following
groups: adjunct faculty members, training officers, fire chiefs and company
officers, and fire department general membership. An AFC staff liaison and a
committee chairperson for each committee work together to plan and
facilitate committee meetings.
Each of
the five committees works with curriculum related to certification and
non-certification courses falling into these five categories: Fire
Prevention and Investigation, Hazardous Materials and Terrorism, Leadership
and Instruction, Suppression and Apparatus, and Technical Rescue. An
especially important role of the CCACs is to improve compliance with related
NFPA national professional qualification standards and in turn to enhance
the performance of students in each AFC course.
