Off Campus "Fee Waived” Hazardous Materials Technician
Certification Course Offered
In
efforts to provide more convenient and cost effective
certification training for Alabama’s emergency
responders, the Alabama Fire College has scheduled an
off campus fee waived Hazardous Materials Technician
Certification course. Tuition costs will be waived
and required textbooks will be provided.
The course will be held May 5-9, 2008 at the
Gulf Shores Fire and Rescue Department in Gulf Shores,
Alabama.
The course is limited to 24 students and we encourage
you to register early to reserve your place. You must
complete an Alabama Fire College
Registration form and fax to Attn: Debbie Hicks..
The fee-waived course is for in-state students,
and the AFC
no-show policy concerning fee-waived courses
does apply.

Week. Please remember to register early as the

CCAC Being Replaced by Technical Review
Committees
Formed in 2003, the Course Content Advisory
Committees have been a vital link between
the fire service in Alabama and curriculum
development at the Alabama Fire College. To
broaden their goals and expand their
mission, the CCACs will be replaced with
Technical Review Committees.

160 Attend Annual Fire Chief’s Conference
One-hundred and sixty fire chiefs from across
the state of Alabama gathered at the Sheraton
4-Points Hotel on February 4, for the Fire
Chiefs Executive Development Program. The
Conference was presented by the Alabama Fire
College in conjunction with the Alabama
Association of Fire Chiefs.

Paramedic Students Participate in Mock Trial
Students in the 2008 Paramedic class found
themselves in a legal predicament during Week Two of
the class. On Friday during a training simulation,
Rescue 2* was dispatched to a possible cardiac
arrest. The team treated the patient but ran into
some legal issues during the resuscitation.2/1/08

Survival Seminar starting March 14-16, 2008 at the
Moody Civic Complex.

2008 Fire Chiefs Executive Development
Conference
This year's Fire Chiefs Development Conference will
be held at the 4-Points Sheraton in Tuscaloosa.
The event will start on Monday, February 4,
2008.

Congratulations to the Alabama Smoke Divers
Graduates
Congratulations to the graduates of the Alabama
Smoke Divers charter class.
Students participated in activities that included
firefighter survival, attack hose evolutions, rapid
intervention team operations and search and rescue.
