Staff Reassignments at the Alabama Fire College

The Alabama Fire College announces a limited reorganization involving two staff reassignments. Phil Hughes will take over the newly created position of Director of Maintenance and have responsibility for assigned personnel and all Fire College grounds, buildings, equipment and vehicles. The Fire College grounds encompass approximately 37 acres with multiple buildings and training props. Vehicles include pumper, aerial, and rescue apparatus, plus a hazmat instructional truck and various automobiles and trucks.

Julie Coffman will take on responsibility for field training programs, effective March 28, in addition to her existing duties as manager of the AFC Program in Emergency Medicine. On the EMS side, Julie will be starting the next Fast-Track paramedic program in early May and concluding 42 weeks later. Her combined title will be Director of EMS and Field Programs. At the Fire College about 75 percent of certifications are through field training programs. 3/23/05
