Field Training General
Information
These courses range from 4 to 400 instructional
hours and may be arranged under a variety of schedules to accommodate
convenient delivery within the local community. All courses authorized for
field delivery may be conducted at host agency sites in accordance with
established policies and procedures.
The Field Training Programs
is responsible for the scheduling, coordination and record keeping of the
vast array of field courses and also maintains the responsibility for the
initial approval, on-site monitoring and examination proctoring for all
certification courses conducted outside the Tuscaloosa campus.
State law requires that all new fire fighting
personnel must complete the Fire Fighter I course and pass the examination
for certification within the first 12 months of employment. To be eligible
to attend the Fire Fighter I course, candidates must successfully pass the
Candidate Physical Ability Test or another
validated physical ability test.
The
Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission is now requiring as
proof of successful completion of the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT)
that the Official CPAT Form
be submitted when a
candidate registers for any recruit school within Alabama.
