Fall Fire College Week 2007
Fall Fire College Week
2007 ended, Sunday, October 28, with a total of 218 students taking
advantage of ten courses offered during the event.
Fire College Executive Director Allan Rice said "we
would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to all the instructors
and students who participated in making Fall Fire College Week a success."
According
to Larry Jarvis, Incident Command for Fall Fire College Week, the
purpose of Fire College Week is “to give fire fighters an opportunity to
attend training in a format that works with fire fighter schedules and
gives fire fighters a chance to interact with personnel from other fire
departments and vendors.” Larry said that he enjoys the atmosphere of
Fire College Week—having so many people in training at one time creates
energy of its own.
The value
in these classes as stated by Instructor Kenny Ray, is a diverse group
of fire fighters with twenty plus years of experience that are happy to
share their expertise and experiences with younger fire fighters.
Student
Michael Weston represented Fairhope Volunteer Fire Department in the
Insurance Grading Process: Basic Concepts
course and stated that the course was a very good experience. He
regretted that he had not been able to take the course prior to his
department’s ISO inspection. He also said that he would encourage others
to take the course.
