Fast Track Paramedic
Program
2005

Twenty three students enrolled in the 2005 Fast Track Paramedic Program
at the Alabama Fire College. During the first week, Lynn Lybrook, EMS
Coordinator, Dr. Phillip Bobo, Medical Director for the Program, and
Chris Carpenter, 2004 graduate of the Fast Track Program introduced the
students to the policies, procedures, and expectations of the program.
Mrs.
Rosemary Blethen began Anatomy and Physiology during week 3 of the
program. The students began clinical rotations on week 10. BTLS marked
the half-way benchmark for the class. The student will complete ACLS
before the Christmas break and will prepare for National Registry to be
given on March 20 and 21, 2006.
The
42 week program was developed in response to the need for advanced and
qualified EMS personnel in the pre-hospital setting. The curriculum is
set by the Department of Transportation and is the 1999 National
Curriculum. The students upon successful completion will set for the
National Registry exam.
To
date, seventy-five percent of the students in the 2004 Fast Track
Program have successfully completed the National Registry exam and are
currently employed in private or public emergency services.
