Harold
Bellinger –
Harold has been with the Montgomery Fire
Department since 1994, where he currently serves as Lieutenant. He holds the
following certifications from the Alabama Fire College: Fire Fighter I and
II, Fire Instructor I and II, Fire Officer I and II, Apparatus Operator:
Pumper and Aerial, Hazardous Materials First Responder, Hazardous Material
Technician, and Rescue Technician: Rope and Trench.
David W. Boyd- David
started his career with the Anniston Fire Department in 1982. He has risen
through the ranks to his present rank of Captain. Currently, he is the
training officer for his department. He also serves as a fire
investigator. David holds the following
certifications through Alabama Fire College: Firefighter I and II; Fire
Instructor I, II, and III; Hazardous Material: Technician; Fire
Investigator; Apparatus Operator; Fire Officer I. Captain Boyd has served on
the adjunct faculty of Alabama Fire College and Gadsden State Community
College. He is a WMD instructor/staff analyst at the U.S. Department of
Homeland Security Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston. He also
holds a Ph.D. from Covington Theological Seminary. Captain Boyd was
appointed by Gov. Bob Riley to the Personnel Standards Commission in 2004.
George T. (Tim) Blakemore – Chief Blakemore has served as the Deputy
Chief at Gulf Shores Fire Department since 1984. His fire service career
spans more than 34 years, and he served as the Fire Chief of Moulton Fire
Department from 1968-77, and Bay Minette Fire Chief from 1978-84. In
addition to numerous certifications from the Alabama Fire College, Chief
Blakemore also is a Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Warfare Instructor and
Counterterrorism Instructor through the U.S. Army Reserve School.
Joey Callahan- Joey
Callahan has been with Lincoln Fire and Rescue since 1989. He currently
serves as Assistant Fire Chief. He is a Law Enforcement Officer through the
Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission. He is an EMT-Intermediate
and holds the following certifications through the Alabama Fire College:
Fire Fighter I & II, Haz-Mat Technician, Fire Instructor I, Fire
Investigator, Airport Fire Fighter, Fire Inspector I & II, Apparatus
Operator Pumper, and Apparatus Operator Aerial. Joey also holds
certifications through EMA, U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Department of
Treasury and has completed several courses under the Domestic Preparedness
Equipment Technical Assistance Program. Joey served as Incident Commander at
the January 2006 train derailment in Lincoln.
Robert Dillard – Chief Robert Dillard started his fire service career
with the Attalla Fire Department where he has risen through the ranks and
currently serves as Fire Chief. Robert holds the following
certifications from the Alabama Fire College: Apparatus Operator:
Pumper, Fire Fighter I and II, Fire
Instructor I and II, Hazardous Materials Technician, Fire Investigator, Fire
Officer I, and Public Safety Telecommunicator. Robert is also a certified
EMT-Paramedic as well as a BCLS/ACLS Instructor. Chief Dillard has served on
the adjunct faculty of the Alabama Fire College for the past five years. He
is the most active instructor for the Field Programs Division, specializing
in the Emergency Response to Terrorism courses. Over the past two years,
Robert has taught 62% of the Emergency Response to Terrorism courses taught
through the grants training program.
Mike Helms - Chief Mike Helms
has been with the Dothan Fire Department for 18 years, serving three of
those years as Training Captain. He currently serves as Battalion Chief of
Operations for C shift Battalion 2. He is also over Emergency Haz-Mat
Operations for the city. He was instrumental in developing the department's
Haz-Mat team as one of its original members. In addition to the numerous
certifications from the Alabama Fire College, Chief Helms has tken courses
on WMD, NFA Field Courses, Propane Gas Leaks (ANGA), Spill and Leak School
(St. Augustine Fire Academy) and numerous classes from FDIC including
Firefighters Survival/Saving Our Own. Chief Helms is an Adjunct Instructor
for the Alabama Fire College, International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF)
instructor for Haz-Mat and Confined space (Nashville, TN), Northwest Florida
Safety Council instructor for Hazwoper, VFIS instructor for Firefighter and
Apparatus Safety (York, PA). He is also a member of the Tr-State (AL, FL,
GA) Haz-Mat Mutual Aid Work Group. Chief Helms has successfully written WMD/DOJ
grants for the department.
Scott McCary
–
Scott has
twenty-one years of public safety experience as a firefighter, paramedic,
instructor and supervisor. He is currently a Fire Lieutenant/Paramedic with
the Hoover Fire Department. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public
Safety and Health Administration and is currently pursuing a Master of
Public Administration degree with a concentration in Emergency Management at
Jacksonville State University. Scott is a Hazardous Materials Technician and
currently supervises and trains a hazmat team. He has been certified through
the Alabama Fire College as Firefighter I and II, Fire Inspector I, Fire
Investigator, Apparatus Operator, Aerial Apparatus Operator, Safety Officer,
Fire Officer I and II, Fire instructor I and II, and Hazardous Materials
Technician. In addition, he is certified at the technician level in High
Angle Rope Rescue, Trench Rescue and Confined Space Rescue. Scott has
attended training seminars and has been certified through the Department of
Homeland Security in incident response to domestic and international
terrorism, with a focus on chemical, radiological, biological and explosive
ordnance attacks. He has served as an adjunct Paramedic Instructor and EMS
coordinator at the Alabama Fire College and holds numerous instructor
designations in emergency medicine. He has taught several HazMat Tech
certification classes at the AFC.
Timothy McMullins –
Timothy has firefighting
experience that includes three years as a volunteer and more than 20 years
as a career fire fighter. He has been employed with Muscle Shoals Fire
Department since 1986, currently holding the rank of assistant chief. He is
also the training officer for his department as well as president of the
Colbert County Haz-Mat Team. Tim holds the following certifications: Fire
Fighter I and II, Fire Officer I and II, Fire Instructor I and II, Apparatus
Operator: Aerial and Pumper, Hazardous Materials Technician, Airport Fire
Fighter, and Inspector I.
Mike Reid
–
Mike Reid is a Lieutenant and paramedic for Pelham Fire Department where he
has been employed for over 6 years. Mike has been in the fire service for a
little over 18 years starting as an explorer for Montevallo Fire and Rescue
Service and currently holds a part-time position as Fire Marshal. Along with
several certifications in many disciplines, including technical rescue
courses from AFC, Mike graduated from the University of Montevallo with a
bachelor's degree in chemistry.
Robert C. Sorrell
– Bob is retired from the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service, and in 32
years of service he held various field and staff positions. He is a 2002
graduate of the Executive Fire Officer Program through the National Fire
Academy. Bob has a Bachelor of Professional Studies degree from the
University of Memphis and an Associate’s degree in Fire Science. He
presently serves as a regional coordinator for the Alabama Fire College.
Buddy Wilks, Jr. –
For 16 years, Buddy has
been with Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service, where he currently holds the
rank of captain. He was a member of the Decontamination Team for three years
and was assigned to the training division for three years. Buddy is a
nationally registered paramedic and holds Alabama Fire College
certifications in Fire Fighter I and II; Fire Officer I, II, and III;
Instructor I and II; Apparatus Operator: Pumper and Aerial; Hazardous
Materials Technician and Rescue Technician: Confined Space and Rope. He has
also completed Advanced Life Support for Hazardous Materials Response at the
National Fire Academy. Buddy has an Associate’s degree in Fire Science and a
Bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration from the University of Memphis.
Tommy
White
–
Tommy White is a
Lieutenant with the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service on the Hazardous
Materials Response Unit. He has been in this position for five years.
Tommy’s current duties include, but are not limited to, responding to and
mitigating the release of hazardous materials, responding to and mitigating
acts of terrorism, training firefighter recruits to the Hazardous Materials
Awareness and Operational level, training fire fighters to the Hazardous
Materials Technician level, and training fire fighters in the proper
Decontamination procedures in a hazardous materials release. Tommy holds the
following certifications from the Alabama Fire College: Hazardous Materials
Awareness and Operational, Hazardous Materials Technician, Fire Department
Safety Officer (Incident Safety Officer/Health and Safety Officer).
